From July 1st countries in the European Union no longer have the import tax exempt of 150 Euros. This means that on top of the sales tax (value added tax) the EU plans to implement a system to raise an import tax on all goods coming in from outside of the EU. That system though isn’t gonna be in place yet and until late 2027 the plan is to charge a fee of 3 euro that gets charged per category. So on top of taxes that amount will be charged. If you order 1 or 5 cd’s you pay just that 3 EUR as it are items in the same category. If you order one cd, one cassette and one photobook, 9 EUR will be charged as that are three categories. These charges will be raised by your local postal service, likely with the method they always used to charge you taxes.
Suspension Standard Shipping
Korea Post suddenly suspended the standard small package service to a large amount of countries. We tried to update the shipping fees to match the actual shipping rate per standard air package instead, which is more expensive for especially the lighter packages. Hopefully the service will resume later, but this is unclear at this point. Luckily many major destinations like USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Brazil, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Netherlands and some other countries remain unaffected.
USA: Resumption Standard Mail
After Korea Post was dealing with a server fire, finally standard and EMS mail to the USA have now resumed!
Resumption Standard Mail To Canada
As the strikes at Canada Post are over, standard mail and EMS to Canada are now available again.
US & Canada Shipping Suspension
A fire at Korea Post canceled out the previous update, with the new tariff systems lost they have to reinstall everything, only UPS available for now. Standard shipping to Canada is canceled as well due to postal strikes over there.
USA Shipping Resumption
We started shipping to the USA again per standard services (Korea Post > USPS). No taxes need to be paid on the category ‘informational materials’ which includes cd’s, cassette tapes, video tapes, books, posters and other printed media. Merchandise/K-pop goods can be still somewhat ambiguous on what will get taxed and what won’t – for now the risk is for us, as taxes do get charged to us, not to you. The customs declaration fee is now included in the shipping fee, so your package will go through and you don’t need to pay for anything for when ordering music or movies.
